Sleep Nap Snooze

How Giraffes Sleep

~30 minutes a day

Book spread titled Long Necks, Short Naps showing two yellow giraffes against a purple and blue graffiti wall.

From the spread “Standing Snoozer” in Sleep, Nap, Snooze.

Giraffes sleep in bursts of just a few minutes, adding up to around half an hour a day.

Most of that snoozing happens standing, so they can run the moment they wake.

For deep sleep, a giraffe folds its legs and curls its long neck back onto its own body.
